Our  Approach

As the inspiration for our logo, The Leaderful Spiral© process outlined below is based on our guiding beliefs and is a framework that practically develops Leaderful thinking, systems and practice.  Through a co-creation process, The Leaderful Spiral© offers a systemic approach that is adapted to each organisation’s unique organisational culture, language and challenges.

The Leaderful Logo

As the impact of this approach is established so the organisational Sphere of Influence is expanded through increasing expectation coupled with higher levels of engagement and enablement.  This is why our escalating circles perfectly symbolise the Leaderful Organisation; emergent, expansive, adaptive, connected and sustainable.

As The Leaderful Spiral© expands so it enlarges the community of leadership practitioners.  By giving control and ownership to those within the organisation who have a passion for ensuring its success, so people are able to demonstrate greater commitment, become more engaged and mobilise their collective wisdom towards achieving common goals.

Guidance for those wanting to enable and initiate a Leaderful community

Stage 1:

Share the ‘Big Issues’ – provide people with the critical information, time and space to appreciate and engage with the key challenges faced by the organisation

Stage 2:

Set expectations – set parameters as to where people’s contribution is required and offer genuine opportunities to contribute towards real, cross-organisational, ambiguous and inherently complex issues

Stage 3:

Enable understanding – be prepared to clarify, explore, negotiate and appreciate where the specific boundaries for enactment lie

Stage 4:

Alleviate uncertainty – support people when they might lose their way, get disheartened or become overwhelmed with the issues they are trying to address by being consistent and open with them

Stage 5:

Encourage enlightenment – recognise innovation, expect challenge and sponsor initiatives where people seem to be on track and energised enough to make a sustainable difference

Stage 6:

Release empowerment – enable the wider circle of leadership to realise the benefits of increased engagement, confidence and discretionary effort by sharing more ‘Big Issues’

Guidance for those wanting to be members of a Leaderful community

Stage 1:

Form the group – identify the core purpose and energy connecting each member of the group to the ‘Big Issues' and give an identity to this shared commitment

Stage 2:

Recognise each other – hold conversations, understand how people relate to each other’s purpose, truly hear each other’s stories and get to know their world views, challenges faced and aspirations for the future

Stage 3:

Appreciate each other – value contributions and build on each other’s strengths, ideas and energy in order to increase group influence and reach

Stage 4:

Support each other – give time to fellow community members, learn from shared experiences, be there for people when they fall, trusting that they will be there for you

Stage 5:

Hearten each other – encourage people to experiment, aspire and fly higher and help each other challenge the status quo to find new ways of addressing old problems

Stage 6:

Enlarge the group – broaden the circle by inviting new voices and asking other members of the whole system to bring emerging ‘Big Issues’ for this widening group to address
